Registration has opened for the 2015 New York International Olive Oil Competition, and already producers and marketers from every region are entering their brands in the annual affair.
Organizers expect more than 700 entries from 25 countries in what is billed as the most important international olive oil competition of the year.
Last year, 254 winners were unveiled — having been bestowed the “Best Olive Oils in the World” by an international panel of expert judges — at a press conference streamed live around the world. Details of the winning oils are indexed on the official results website, bestoliveoils.org.
What’s new for 2015? NYIOOC president, Curtis Cord, said there will be a few changes made to the inner workings of the competition, but the major push, as always, will be in adding ever more value for winning producers.
“That is what we do,” Cord said. “Our job is to objectively identify the best olive oils in the world every April, and then proceed to make those brands known to as many people as possible, all year round.”
Olive oil producers, importers and marketers can register their brands for the 2015 competition online using the new Producer Tools portal NYIOOC has developed. In addition to a streamlined registration process, users can manage their entries, track sample shipments and take advantage of a suite of tools designed to build brand exposure.
The third edition of the New York International Olive Oil Competition will be held April 14 – 16, 2015. For more information, visit nyiooc.org.
