The International Olive Oil Council (IOC) has joined the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Arnoldo and Alberto Mondadori Foundation in supporting the World Table project, part of the “WE, Women for Expo,” an Expo 2015 project that seeks to bring together women and nourishing foods from around the globe.
WE was introduced by the Associazione Pandolea – Donne dell’olio, an all-female Italian society of olive oil industrialists and enthusiasts, and will feature four leading projects, including the World Table Project, culminating in the main expo in Milan next year.
IOC’s involvement includes collecting and posting personal olive oil recipes from women of various cultures on the WE website. The recipes, telling a universal and international story, will be showcased in a virtual dinner party on opening day in Milan on May 1, 2015.
In addition to the World Table Project, other projects involved in the WE Expo include the World Story, the Global Creativity Thinking project, the Entrepreneurs project, and the Italian Pavilion project. The theme for Expo 2015 is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.”
“Women from participating countries will be invited to express their views on the nourishment of the body and nourishment of freedom and intelligence. The sustainability of the planet is expected to form a new alliance between food and cultures and it is women who will be the driving force behind this,” says the expo’s website.
Personal olive oil recipe submissions can be emailed to the IOC through September 30th using the address oliverecipe@internationaloliveoil.org. Recipes will be accepted in both Italian and English.
