Australia’s leading olive oil company, Boundary Bend, which was already the world’s most awarded producer at the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC), added to their lead Wednesday with an unprecedented nine awards, including 2 Best in Class and 3 Gold for their flagship brand, Cobram Estate.
The innovative producer, which practices high-density farming methods and state-of-the-art production techniques recently opened a processing facility in California with the aim of building its market share in the United States and beyond.
Another Australian producer, Alto Olives took home 2 Best in Class Awards for its Alto Robust and Alto Vividus brands.
NYIOOC president, Curtis Cord called Boundary Bend’s winning streak “simply stunning” at the televised press conference announcing the results of the third edition of the world’s largest and most prestigious olive oil quality competition.
Boundary Bend CEO Rob McGavin and Adam Englehardt, president of the U.S. operations, were on hand to collect the awards. “We are thrilled and proud that we have achieved this ongoing success and recognition at such an esteemed international event,” McGavin said from New York.
“Consumer preferences for olive oil are changing quickly. Whereas once an olive oil had to come from Europe, today’s consumer is seeking the highest quality oils from around the world, and Australia is quickly gaining recognition as a supplier of the highest caliber,” McGavin said. On the strong start of his new California products, he added, “It is very satisfying that our Aussie style, Californian grown olive oils have performed so well.”
